WASHINGTON DC’S REGG’GO MUSIC RELEASES NEW EP CONCURRENTLY IN GHANA
WASHINGTON, DC, November 11, 2019 – Ras Lidj Regg’Go Music releases a new EP this week titled All to the East with four new songs of their reggae-meets-go-go style, plus one bonus remix.
“All to the East” is the celebratory title track, calling all souls who feel the pull to Mama Africa, with shout outs to different countries over a skank & crank regg’go beat. Timing of this release coincides with the “Year of Return, Ghana 2019” declared by Ghana’s President and its Tourism Authority to be “a major landmark spiritual and birth-right journey inviting the Global African family, home and abroad, to mark 400 years of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans in Jamestown, Virginia,” according to the movement’s official website.
Regg’go Music musicians/singers Ras Lidj and Harmoni Black will visit Ghana this week, where the EP will make a simultaneous splash, thanks to an on-the-ground promotions team. Promotional materials for the All to the East EP include custom cassette tape shaped USB flash drives and CDs.
Another very timely gem on the EP is their regg’go cover of a Christmas classic, “Little Drummer Boy (NyaRegg’Go Riddim).” Regg’Go Music front man Ras Lidj says, “Little Drummer Boy (NyaRegg’Go Riddim) is a song you’ll be playing and dancing to all year like Christmas is every day. This EP is also edutainment party music with something on it for everyone.”
The musician, who was a member of the go-go band Physical Wundors, originally developed the regg’go concept in 1991 and first recorded it in 1993. He officially named the sound “regg’go” in 2004.
Ras Lidj and his unique sound have been featured over the years in Take Me Out to the Go-Go Magazine. This year, Ras Lidj Regg’Go Music headlined at the Reggae Beach Party Weekend in Virginia Beach and the Chesapeake Bay Reggae Fest in Hampton, Virginia.
