Next “ART of Go-Go” Event features GODISHEUS
(WASHINGTON, DC) — The next “A.R.T. of Go-Go” will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Adinkra Cultural Arts Studio, 3804 34th Street, Mount Rainier, Maryland. Headlining the event will be GODISHEUS (gotta-see-us), trailblazers of DC’s funk rock explosion, who enjoy a cult following as a groundbreaking funk/rock/soul band comprised of highly esteemed go-go musicians. GODISHEUS employs the amazing musicianship of Dwayne Lee (guitar), Kenny “Kwick” Gross (drums), Byron Jackson (bass), Head-Roc (rapper), and Kal-El (vocals).
This will be the second “A.R.T. of Go-Go” event promoted by DC Brand 99, with classic go-go, regional hip hop, and more music lovers’ music courtesy of turntablist DJ TDAWG, hosted by media personality Ninety-Nine (a/k/a the author Tahira Chloe Mahdi). These events support DC area artists by promoting their work and facilitating relationships to strengthen the artist community. DC Brand 99 is proud to feature the second “ART of Go-Go” in the Gateway Arts District in Mount Rainier, Maryland.
Tickets are $15.00 in advance and $20.00 at the door on the day of the event. Advance tickets are on sale at Eventbrite.com. Guests can expect a two-level party experience, with cabaret style upstairs and ‘red light basement party’ style downstairs. Doors open at 9pm; GODISHEUS will perform promptly at 11pm, and the party will last until 2am. Limited refreshments will be offered. Door prizes are sponsored by local visual artists. DC Brand 99 will disclose more details as the event approaches.
The first “ART of Go-Go” attracted many DC area artists to a packed house at the Tap & Parlour at Bohemian Caverns and featured a surprise performance by Grammy-nominated DC artist Christylez Bacon (video on YouTube).
