Hear ye, here ye!

The Go-Go you have come to know is not merely borne of and propelled by resiliency and resistance.  Let it be known that Go-Go lifts Go-Go up in respect, in honor, in truth.

In Truth, we give thanks for the brilliant minds, the awe-inspiring talent, and the unbreakable bonds formed from musician to musician, mentor to student, band to fans, business to patron, person to person, conga-driven heartbeats to bodies moved by the beat.  We come to convene at the Howard Theatre, known well to the firsts of our kind as a place to give and receive Go-Go the Gift — in Washington, DC, which has become sacred battleground for God’s groove to exert its will, ever in peace, ever in Love, ever in honor.

In Honor, we recognize the miracles that come through our keepers of the crank, as their gifts of song, word, performance, and art have been written into our destiny.  We put into service the gift of community and the gift of opportunity to recognize the strength within one another, and to shout it out across the territory so that all may pay heed.

Honorees:

“Sweet” Cherie Mitchell-Agurs (Keyboardist/Songwriter/Composer/Performer)

William “Ju-Ju” House (Drummer/Artist/Producer)

Thomas Sayers Ellis (Poet/Photographer/Professor)

Michael “Funky Ned” Neal (Bassist/Artist/Producer)

Donnell Floyd (Saxophonist/Performer)

Jason Lewis (Philanthropist/Artist)

In Respect, we respect the fact that respect is due.  Now… as we proceed, dig the Godfather’s rhythmic seed: “You got to give a lot just to get what you need sometimes y’all.”

This is an Honors and Awards show, not a go-go. You won’t be standing there, but hitting the Howard classy, with tables and chairs. 😉

Your tickets are here. See you there.
